This application uses an area-detecting Fiber Unit to detect passage of minute chips that may drop in various different positions. The passing of chip components is detected even if the passage location varies within a width of 11 mm, regardless of whether they are metallic or non-metallic.

Conventional area-beam fiber sensors received amount of lights that varied with the sensing position. Detecting workpieces depended upon their passing position. Some were detected, but others were not. Also, laser sensors presented problems from the view point of safety.


This Sensor uses an optical component that generates a homogenous light beam with a safe LED. It enables stable detection within the detection area even when the passing position of chips changes.
